Starting planning for Access to Healthcare Conference
The International Bar Association’s Healthcare and Lifesciences committee of which I am secretary, has started work on planning a two day conference on access to healthcare which we hope to hold in Edinburgh in May 2014. We already have the support of the New York City Bar Association and the Law Society of Scotland and expect to attract support from both health care professionals and lawyers for some lively debate on barriers to healthcare around the world. Rather than just being a talking shop we are hoping the conference will lead to further activities and ultimately to something concrete towards improving the situation. Leading up to the conference we are planning a number of other events and projects to develop interest in the conference topics and also to bring together data for discussion.
This week saw our first press coverage on the conference http://www.scotsman.com/the-scotsman/scotland/interview-patricia-barclay-1-2360693 although sadly the lovely picture the Scotsman printed did not make it through to the electronic version.
